IELTS for IT Professionals: Score Requirements for Tech Migration and Work Visas

Ireland's Critical Skills Employment Permit is the primary route for IT professionals and does not have a formal IELTS minimum set by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE). However, employers typically expect strong English proficiency, and some may require IELTS scores as part of their hiring process.

Ireland hosts European headquarters for many major tech companies including Google, Meta, Apple, and Microsoft, creating strong demand for software engineers, DevOps specialists, and data engineers. IT occupations are on the Critical Skills Occupation List.
