Overall band calculator

Students pick their Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking bands and see the overall band, with the rounding explained. It uses the official IELTS rule: average the four bands, then round to the nearest half band (.25 rounds up to the half, .75 up to the whole band). How IELTS scoring works

Optional: let the widget set its own height

The code above uses a fixed height that fits the widget on most screens. If you want the frame to grow and shrink with its content (for example when a student opens the rounding explanation), add this script once per page, anywhere after the iframe. It only listens for height messages from our widgets and changes nothing else.

<script>
window.addEventListener("message", function (event) {
  if (event.origin !== "https://www.ielts.international") return;
  var data = event.data;
  if (!data || data.type !== "ielts-international:embed-resize" || typeof data.height !== "number") return;
  var frames = document.querySelectorAll('iframe[src^="https://www.ielts.international/embed/"]');
  for (var i = 0; i < frames.length; i++) {
    if (frames[i].contentWindow === event.source) {
      frames[i].style.height = Math.ceil(data.height) + "px";
    }
  }
});
</script>

Options

Add these to the end of the widget address. The builders above write them for you.

theme=light | dark
Light is the default.
accent=0f766e
Your brand colour as a 3- or 6-digit hex code, with or without the #. Colours too faint to read on the chosen theme are replaced by the default.
lang=hi
Widget labels in one of the site's languages, where those labels already exist on IELTS.international; anything else shows English. The credit line stays in English.
test=toefl | pte | duolingo | cefr
Converter only: which test is selected when the widget loads.

Privacy and terms

Free. Use the widgets on any site, commercial or not. There is no sign-up and no usage limit.

Your visitors stay yours. The widgets set no cookies, store nothing in the browser, and load no advertising or analytics scripts. We count two anonymous things: that a widget was shown, and that someone used it, together with the name of the website it was shown on (for example “yourinstitute.com”, taken from the browser's referrer, without the page address). Nothing about the person using it is recorded. If a visitor's browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, not even that is sent.

One small request.Each widget has a short credit line under it, such as “Band calculator by IELTS.international”. Please leave it in place and unchanged: it's how students find the full tools and how we keep these free. The widget works the same either way.

Accuracy. The results are estimates from published rules and tables, not official scores. Only an IELTS test gives an official band, and each university or immigration body sets its own requirements.
