IELTS reference data you can download and cite
Three tables we keep for our own reference pages, published as CSV and JSON. Every row names the page it was checked against. Rows we could not trace to the publisher, the university or the funder are left out of the files, and each dataset says how many.
Licence, citation and updates
- Licence
- Our compilation is CC BY 4.0. Copy, share and adapt it, including commercially. Attribution means crediting IELTS.international with a link to the dataset's page. The underlying requirements and concordance tables belong to their publishers.
- How to cite
- Use the APA reference under each dataset. The version is the date of the latest source check, so a citation always points at the checks it relied on. In a web page, a plain link to the dataset's page is enough.
- Update cadence
- No fixed schedule. The concordance was last compared with the publishers' documents on 28 September 2026 and is re-checked when a publisher releases a new table. University and scholarship records are re-checked in batches; the latest university check is from April 2026 and the latest scholarship check from April 2026. The files are rebuilt on every deploy.
IELTS score concordance: CEFR, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Duolingo English Test, Cambridge English Scale and CLB
IELTS overall bands 4.0–9.0 against CEFR levels, TOEFL iBT (0–120), PTE Academic, the Duolingo English Test, the Cambridge English Scale and Canadian Language Benchmarks. One row per band and scale; every row cites the publisher document it comes from and says whether the value is official, derived by us, or unverified.

What is in, what is out
- 56 rows: 44 official, 9 derived by us from a publisher table, 3 unverified.
- Unverified rows (Cambridge English Scale above band 7.5) have no publisher table behind them and must not be quoted as official.
- TOEFL iBT values are ETS's 2010 comparison on the 0–120 scale; ETS now also reports a 1–6 scale, which this file does not include.
- Sources last compared with our values on 28 September 2026.

University IELTS requirements
Minimum IELTS overall and per-skill requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate entry at 580 universities in 94 countries. Only records with a first-party source URL and a recorded check month are included.

What is in, what is out
- 580 of 1133 university records qualify (51%): each has a source URL on the university's own site or an IELTS partner directory, a check month, and at least one numeric overall minimum.
- Left out: 284 with no source URL, 29 whose source link is a third-party site (rankings, blogs, our own pages) or malformed, 0 with no check month, 240 with no numeric overall minimum.
- Records were last checked from March 2026 to April 2026. Requirements change every admissions cycle; confirm with the university before applying.
- Check months are stored per record to the month only and are published exactly as stored.

IELTS requirements, eligible degree levels and application deadlines for 181 scholarships. Only records with an official source URL, a recorded check month and a deadline statement are included; past deadlines are flagged.

- Deadlines as of 11 October 2026: 17 passed, 1 upcoming, 107 recurring windows without a year, 16 rolling, 40 varying by programme.
- Records were last checked from March 2026 to April 2026. Scholarship cycles open and close every year; confirm on the official page before applying.

Concordance sources
The publisher documents behind the concordance rows. Each row in the file carries one of these, plus a status: official (printed in the document), derived (computed by us from it) or unverified (no publisher table behind it).
