Your question
Describe a place where you enjoy spending time.
- 1Where it is
- 2What you do there
- 3Why it matters to you
The four IELTS Speaking criteria
Speaking is assessed through Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, and Pronunciation. Accent is not a scoring criterion: clarity and intelligibility matter, not sounding British or Australian.
A short recording cannot reproduce every condition of an 11–14 minute face-to-face test. Use the result as an initial practice estimate and complete longer Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 sessions after signup.
- Fluency and Coherence
- Lexical Resource
- Grammatical Range and Accuracy
- Pronunciation clarity
Natural answers are stronger than scripts
Memorized responses can sound fluent until the question changes. A better practice sample develops a real idea, gives a reason or example and uses language the speaker can control reliably.
Pauses and self-correction are normal. Focus on connected meaning, a sustainable pace and clear pronunciation rather than speaking as fast as possible.
Recording, privacy and estimate limits
The diagnostic explains microphone use before recording and provides visible states while audio is processed. Do not include private personal information in a practice answer.
AI Speaking estimates can differ from an official result. Repeated samples and a complete mock provide stronger evidence than one short answer.
