Valued at $50,000 per year for three years, it is Canada's most prestigious doctoral award. Approximately 166 scholarships are awarded annually to both Canadian and international students pursuing research in health, natural sciences, engineering, and social sciences.

Tips for Meeting the Requirement
- 1Vanier requires IELTS 7.0 overall with no band below 6.5. Since all four components must reach 6.5, identify your weakest skill early and allocate additional study time to it.
- 2As a PhD-level scholarship, your IELTS Writing score matters especially. Practice writing complex academic arguments and structuring Task 2 essays with nuanced thesis statements.
- 3Vanier only accepts IELTS Academic — General Training is not accepted. Make sure you register for the correct test format well ahead of the September–November application window.
