A band calculator combines Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking into an overall result using IELTS rounding. This checker answers a different question: does the score profile meet a specific target? It preserves each component because many universities, visa routes and professional bodies require both an overall result and minimum bands in individual skills.

Why the next 0.5 band must be skill-specific
A learner at overall 6.5 does not have one universal 0.5-band problem. The useful gap may be Writing 6.0 to 6.5 while Listening already exceeds the target. Raising the strongest skill may change the rounded overall score without satisfying a component minimum.
The output names a first priority and counts the remaining half-band steps across skills. That count describes the plan; it is not a promised timeline. Progress depends on language level, task conditions, feedback quality and the accuracy of current practice scores.
Use evidence strong enough for the decision
Listening and Reading estimates are strongest when they come from complete, timed practice with an answer key and the correct Academic or General Training conversion. Writing and Speaking should be treated as estimates, ideally as a range supported by repeated samples.
For high-stakes decisions, never let an AI estimate override an official result or an institution's wording. Recheck the requirement, test version, validity period and One Skill Retake policy before booking or applying.
